Jakob Julius Michalowski was born on 4 April 1867 in Gollantsch, Posen (today Gołańcz). He was a merchant. He lived with his wife Klara, née Strenger, born on 16 December 1878 in Berlin, at Bundesratufer 4, Moabit, in a building he owned until it was expropriated by the Nazis.
On 9 July 1942 Jakob Julius and Klara Michalowski were deported on the “18th transport of the elderly” to Theresienstadt. Klara Michalowski survived the concentration camp but her husband died there on 4 May 1944. The Michalowskis had one child who was able to escape to the United States before 1939. After her liberation, Klara Michalowski went to live with her relatives in America.
