Sara Meerfisch, née. Lauer, was born to Mojzesz Lauer and Jutte Richter in Janow (now Ivano Frankove, Ukraine) on 24 December 1889.
She moved to Berlin in 1917, to help her sister Adele (Eidel) Stark, née Lauer, whose husband Nathan (Nachmen) Stark had been mortally wounded in a 1917 trolley accident, raise Adele’s two small children. Sara was a seamstress, and she married Jakob Meerfisch of Lublin, in Berlin, on 5 December 1919. They had one daughter, who died shortly after birth. Sara and Jakob lived at N54 Dragonerstrasse 48, with Sara’s family, until they divorced.
Sara then moved to N54 Alte Schönhauser Strasse 11, Berlin and was deported from that place to the Lodz Ghetto, November 1941. Sara was sent to Chelmo in May 1942 where she was murdered.
