Born at Berlin, Germany, 15 August 1913; died at Holland, Michigan, USA, 7 June 1989; married at Milan, Italy, 15 July 1937, Alberto Franco Schwarz (born at Milan, 13 October 1908; died at Holland, Michigan, 19 March 1982; son of Gustavo and Carola (Rothschild) Schwarz). She always used Andrea as her preferred first name. She attended the Kunstgewerbe- und Handwerkerschule in Berlin. In 1935 she left Germany to stay with her brother Joachim and his family in Persia. There she met Franco Schwarz, who was working as an engineering associate of Joachim. In 1940, she and Franco and their young daughter emigrated from Italy to the United States, soon settling in Holland, Michigan. Frank – ¬his adopted American name – had a long career as an industrial engineer and later as a college professor. Andrea was energetically occupied with supporting the widely varied activities of her children, as well as teaching art and contributing to various social causes.
Andrea and Franco had four sons and three daughters.
