Isaak Teich-Birken

Isaak Teich-Birken was born on July 3, 1886 in Sieniawa, Poland. He learned tailoring and moved to Berlin in 1903.

On August 28, 1910 he married Martha Eichner in Bodenbach in Bohemia. Martha Eichner came from Kraków. She probably moved to Berlin around 1905.

Isaak ran a tailor's workshop at Rosenthaler Strasse 33 in Berlin-Mitte. The couple had four children, daughters Adele and Lottie and sons Saul and Martin. All four children managed to escape to England in the 1930s via Brussels, where an uncle lived. Adele, Lottie and Saul moved on to the United States. Martin stayed in England. Despite great efforts, it was not possible to let the parents follow.

On October 18, 1941, Isaak and Martha Teich-Birken were deported from Berlin to the Litzmannstadt / Lodz ghetto; from there on May 8, 1942 to the Kulmhof / Chelmno camp, where they were murdered.
