Martha Teich-Birken née Eichner

Martha Teich-Birken, née Eichner, was born on March 12, 1886 in Kraków / Poland. She probably moved to Berlin around 1905. On August 28, 1910, she married Isaak Teich-Birken in Bodenbach, Bohemia, who had also moved to Berlin from Poland.

Her husband ran a tailor's workshop at Rosenthaler Strasse 33 in Berlin-Mitte. The couple had four children, daughters Adele and Lottie and sons Saul and Martin. All four children managed to escape to England in the 1930s via Brussels, where an uncle lived. Adele, Lottie and Saul moved on to the United States. Martin stayed in England. Despite great efforts, it was not possible to let the parents follow.

On October 18, 1941, Martha and Isaak Teich-Birken were deported from Berlin to the Litzmannstadt / Lodz ghetto; from there on May 8, 1942 to the Kulmhof / Chelmno camp, where they were murdered.
