Cilly Zollmann née Dankowitz

Cilly Dankowitz was born on June 6th, 1872 in Tarnow, Poland. In the early 1890s she married Josef Zollmann from Vinjita in the Ukraine.

The couple probably moved to Germany in 1907. First place of residence was Kiel. Around 1930 the family moved to Berlin. Last residence there was Rosenthaler Strasse 50 in Berlin-Mitte.

Eleven children were born, eight daughters and three sons: Zala, Simon, Bluma, Ida, Balka, Alma, Max, Rosa, the twins Anni and Henny, Jakob. With the exception of the eldest son Simon, all of the children were able to escape the Nazi terror. They fled to Belgium, the Soviet Union, Palestine and Argentina. Simon was probably deported to Poland with his wife and daughter and killed there.

The fate of the parents also remains in the dark. Josef Zollmann was deported to Poland in October 1938 as part of the "Poland Action". The same fate befell Cilly Zollmann in June 1939. Both then lived in Kraków. It is assumed that they were deported to Auschwitz in 1942 and murdered there.
